UAB among the top 100 universities in Europe

Studying - UAB occupies position 92 in European universities and 211 in the world according to the 2009 world university rankings made public this week by "The Times Higher Education Supplement". The positions in the ranking represent a great advance with regard to last's years report; the University is up 14 places in the European and 45 in the world ranking.
UAB is also among the top 100 universities of the world in the fields of Social Sciences and Natural Sciences, occupying positions 70 and 97. These positions move up to 23 and 42 among European universities. With regard to other universities in Spain, UAB has recovered the second position it occupied in 2008.
The universities of United States and United Kingdom occupy the first ten positions of the ranking. The first position continues to be held by Harvard University, a position it maintains since 2005. It is followed by Cambridge, Yale, University College London, Imperial College London, Oxford, University of Chicago, Princeton University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and California Institute of Technology.
In addition to centres from USA and UK, among the first 25 universities there are Australian National University (17), Mcgill University, Canada (18), Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (20), the universities of Tokyo and Kyoto (22 and 25), and the University of Hong Kong (24).
The ranking per countries for the top 200 universities are United States (59), United Kingdom (29), Canada, Japan and Netherlands (11) and Germany (10).
The THES-QS ranking, which was first carried out in 2005, analyses 500 of the world's universities and orders them into world and regional categories as well as according to specific criteria on teaching, research and internationalisation. In order to weigh the criteria, different indicators are taken into account such as the number of citations per faculty, number of international faculty and students, faculty-student ratio and percentage of graduates employed. In addition to quantitative values, qualitative surveys are carried out with researchers from each of the subject areas and with employers from a variety of sectors.
